Privacy Policy

Core Privacy Principle: HuePulse is designed from the ground up to respect your absolute privacy. All audio sampling and processing occurs 100% locally on your smartphone. No audio is ever recorded, saved to local storage, or transmitted over any external network or cloud server.

1. Information We Access

HuePulse requests specific device permissions strictly required to provide its core functionality:

Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Used exclusively to sample ambient sound pressure (RMS volume and tempo intervals) to drive reactive lighting algorithms in real time. Incoming PCM audio data is processed strictly in volatile device RAM and immediately discarded.
Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE): Required by the Android operating system to continue real-time audio analysis and UDP light streaming when your screen turns off or while using other apps (such as media players). A persistent notification is always visible in your status bar while active.
Local Wi-Fi Network Access: Used to discover your Philips Hue Bridge on your local Wi-Fi router (via mDNS and local HTTP) and transmit low-latency datagrams over UDP port 2100. Local network traffic remains strictly inside your home network.

2. What We DO NOT Collect

We do not collect personal identifying information (PII), names, or phone numbers.
We do not record, transcribe, or store conversations, songs, or voice data.
We do not use third-party behavioral analytics, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting SDKs.

3. Local Storage of Credentials

When you pair HuePulse with your Philips Hue Bridge, the bridge IP address, generated username, and DTLS Pre-Shared Key (clientkey) are stored securely on your device using hardware-backed encryption (Android KeyStore / EncryptedSharedPreferences via AES-GCM). These credentials never leave your local device.

4. Children's Privacy

HuePulse does not address anyone under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Photosensitivity & Health Notice

HuePulse features dynamic lighting presets, including high-speed strobe modes. A disclaimer is presented on first launch informing users of photosensitivity risks. Users can configure frequency and master brightness or avoid strobe presets at their discretion.
